Suffused with orange and served long like a Tom Collins, this simple beverage is so sophisticated it wears a three-piece suit to do the weekly shopping.

Counterculture of the 1960s made cocktails uncool. Young people wanted to rebel against what their parents were doing. Luckily for the oldtimers, this left them free to get refining. By the end of the decade, the trend was for simple, stylish cocktails that had just enough extras added to the spirits to make the final result deliciously palatable – which is exactly what we have here.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Pour the gin into a chilled glass and add ice.
2. Shake up the Orangina and fill the glass.
3. Run some orange peel along the rim of the glass before adding as a garnish.
